The best age to teach the Quran to kids is starting from age 3. At that age, a kid’s mind is attentive and observant, with a sound capacity for memorization, and a vigorous desire to mimic and imitate.

Some preferable methods of memorizing Quran for kids include:

1       To be taught by an Arabic-speaking professional at the beginning, whether by his parents or a specialized teacher, due to the kid’s inability to articulate properly and the difficulty to focus on the correct pronunciation.

2       It is better for kids to be taught the short surahs first with having each verse repeated to them. If a verse is long, it can be split into sentences, so they can understand it and repeat after you.

3       Use some recordings to help in the process of Quran memorization for kids

4       Explain the meaning of words in an intriguing way, using jokes and analogies to make it easier for them to memorize. Understanding does make it easier to memorize.

5       Don’t adhere to a specific time at first. But rather whenever you get the chance, and when your kid has a desire to learn.

6       Enrolling the kid in a Quran memorization group appropriate for his age.

7       Exert some efforts with the kid to make him love the Quran, and encourage him to memorize. Perhaps award him with something he loves every time he memorizes some verses. Also, instill an atmosphere of competitiveness between the kid and his friends or some of his peers.
